The Exploitation of Hip Hop

I never thought I'd see the day where the culture of hip hop is used to sell products to white people. The culture of hip hop has become so popular that cereal commercials are now using rap songs to sell it's products.

White-as-a-Normative Concept

I always wondered since I was younger why there aren't "nude" colored items like band-aids and bras that match my flesh. This made me think that my skin didn't come in nude. For example, stockings for me come in light brown, medium brown and dark brown. We only get three categories. I feel it's a little unfair. I would like to know that my skin, and all the many different shades of Blacks could be considered the norm. I guess with the next generation of feminists or just those who want to fight for freedom of oppression will change the "norm" to fit everyone.

Jessica vs Shoshana

Hello Fellow (future) Journalists,
I finished the assignment to find articles on the two POW's relatively quickly, though it was somewhat harder that I thought to find an equal amount of articles on the war heros. I find it a little disturbing that most of the articles on both of them lacked the coverage I was looking for, which was what really happened. Most of the articles focused on if the women would recieve equal disability pensions, or that Jessica was in fact not a hero of any sort. Though her story wasn't what they made it out to be, she was still somewhat of a hero. And I never found an article telling Shoshana's side of the story. The stories on her all focused on the fact that she recieved less coverage than Jessica...what a mess!
